Course Description

This course is recommended for students planning on majoring in Accounting or related business fields.  We will study the accounting cycle as it relates to small businesses, merchandising businesses and corporations.  The microcomputers will be used for various projects throughout the year.

Outcomes

The student will:

  • Be familiar with accounting terminology.

  • Be aware of accounting careers.

  • Know the steps in the basic accounting cycle for a proprietorship, a merchandising business and a corporation.

  • Know basic payroll procedures.

  • Be able to use computer software in accounting.

Expectations

  • Come to class with text, workbook, and calculator.

  • Treat each other with respect.

  • Turn all work in on time--no late work accepted.

1st Quarter:        Chapters   1-8
2nd Quarter:       Chapters  9-12
3rd Quarter:        Chapters 13-17
4th Quarter:        Chapters 18-20 (Automated Business Simulation)
