Course Description
Computer Applications II focuses on using the computer
as a tool for personal or business use. Problem
solving and decision making skills will be used to
create spreadsheets, charts, databases, queries, word
processing documents, mail merge files, and computer
presentations using the software applications in
Microsoft Office Professional (Word, PowerPoint,
Excel, Access).
Outcomes
Students
will be able to:

understand and demonstrate the meaning of file
management.

design and create spreadsheets to solve business
problems/situations and then transform the data into
a graph for easy reading.

demonstrate and discuss various types of technology
used outside of the classroom.

create and generate form letters, mailing labels,
and envelopes using Word.

create, edit, store, sort, and retrieve a database
to generate forms and reports using Access.
-
create and present a computer slide presentation
which integrates documents from other software
programs.

search, retrieve and manipulate information
electronically.

use an online
tutorial and discuss the benefits and disadvantages
of this method of learning.

create letters and memorandums.
-
perform advanced desktop publishing skills.

use wizards for the easy creation of tables,
reports, and forms.

use NCC 's scanners.

build on computer
vocabulary.

import text and
graphics.

group and ungroup
graphics.

apply
touch-typing techniques with advanced accuracy,
speed, and efficiency.

identify common
graphic, audio, and video file formats (e.g., jpeg,
gif, bmp, wav)

graphics, etc. electronically.

Acceptable Use
Policy must be signed by both student and
parent/guardian.

All work must
be done at school and saved in each student’s
account on the server.

Cheating will
not be tolerated and will result in zero credit.

Student will be
marked tardy if admit slip is not obtained before
class begins.

Appropriate
classroom behavior is expected at all times.

Absents must be
made up before, during, or after school.
Grading
Assignments, quizzes, and projects will be assigned a
weight of the final grade. Weights may slightly
fluctuate throughout the quarter. |
