perceptual awareness and cognitive skills through sensory experiences.
To expand their skills in producing visual art in a wide variety of
media and techniques as well as their ability to communicate feelings
and ideas. To develop skills to analyze, compare, interpret, and
evaluate art of self, other students, and major artists. To recognize,
distinguish, and appreciate art and cultural influences of differing
cultures and historical periods.
REQUIREMENTS AND
RULES OF THE CLASS
-
Make good use of class time. You are
expected to work on only your Art assignments everyday in
class. This is very important. During a 5 day school week, we have
only 3 hours and 45 minutes of work time, plus a 5 minute
set-up/clean-up each day. Talking during the entire class period is
not making good use of your time. Remember: Good Art takes
time. Good thinking takes time, and a lot of talking is a waste of
time.
-
Bring the required materials to class
as instructed in each class period.
-
There will be NO EATING OR DRINKING
in the classroom.
-
Be courteous to classmates and staff
members. Respect yourself and others.
-
Participate in classroom discussions
and critiques.
-
Present each assignment on time. Each
assignment is due at the beginning of its due date class
period.
-
Keep the classroom clean at all times.
Clean up after yourself.
-
Read and follow the POLICIES REGARDING
STUDENT CONDUCT in the Student handbook.
-
Comply with the Nouvel Catholic Central
Dress Code.
-
ATTENDANCE: Attendance at each class
is essential in order for you to complete assignments and meet all the
class requirements. Please read and follow the policies regarding
ATTENDANCE in the Student Handbook.
-

Please read the TARDINESS policy in the Student Handbook.

GRADING
PROCEDURES
Grades will be
determined on work evaluated on achievement in the following areas:
Studio production, weekly sketchbook activities, exams, quizzes and
critiques. Late work will receive a reduction in points equivalent to
one letter grade provided you hand it in within one week of the due
date. Work handed in after one week will receive a failing grade (59
pts.). Work not handed in will receive 0 points. The grading scale to
be used for this class is printed in the Student Handbook. Since we all
do not possess natural talent and ability, your effort as well as
ability will be taken into consideration.
