Course Description
This course has a strong
geometry/logical reasoning strand that includes such topics as inductive
and deductive reasoning, coordinate geometry in two and
three-dimensions, implications, arguments, and postulates in algebra.
Students write two-column, paragraph, and flow proofs about similar and
congruent triangles. New algebra topics include indirect
variation, complex numbers, the binomial theorem, and rational and cubic
equations. Matrices are introduced and used to represent
transformations and systems of equations. Other topics include
special right triangles, counting techniques, probability and odds,
Pascal's triangle, and binomial experiments.
Prerequisite: "B" average in
Honors Algebra or an "A" average in Algebra I and teacher recommendation

STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:

6. ASSIGNMENTS. Turn in neat
papers that are legible. It is required to put name, date, assignment
and hour in upper right corner of paper or assignment for it to be
graded. If absent, please also include the word ABSENT and the
date absent at the top of the paper and circle. SHOW ALL WORK & BOX
ALL ANSWERS on ALL ANSWERS on ALL homework, tests, and quizzes
Assignments are to be turned in on time
(due dates). If not, they may lose points each day they are late.
7.
MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENTS. You are responsible for making up missed homework
and assignments. Make arrangements to take tests and quizzes as
soon as possible. Tests or Quizzes previously announced will be
expected to be taken the day you return to class. If the absence is
prearranged, you are responsible to get the assignments before the
absence and turn them in the day you return.
8. Do their best, show self control,
patience, and create a positive atmosphere for learning.
9. Show respect towards self, other
students, teachers and all personal and school property. Also show
integrity, kindness, and courtesy towards all.

available (the options may only be available after school), then RESTUDY
and ask questions. These options will NOT be available for every test or
quiz, so Do Your Best on each the first time.

Room Appearance
Do your part in keeping the room clean -
put desk back in order, pick up and put in trash all items on the floor,
do not write on desk. NO food or drink allowed in room. This is your
room, Please keep it clean.
5.
New Textbook
It is your responsibility to preserve,
protect and properly care for the textbook assigned to you. This
textbook is NEW, so take VERY GOOD care of it. Protect the textbook by
covering it, DO NOT drop the textbook, stuff it in your locker or book
bag.
DO NOT make any marks in it. Fines will
be assessed at the end of the year for any damage to the textbook.

and unannounced – several per chapter) and any other assignments given

Extra Credit: Extra credit assignments may be occasionally
offered during the course of the class on tests, quizzes, homework
assignments, or etc. All students are encouraged to try them. I
will not create extra credit assignments to help students bring up
grades at the last minute such as the end of the marking period of
semester.
