The Saginaw County Bar
Association and Saginaw County Lawyers Auxiliary presents its Law Day
Program every year.
High school
students participate in Law Day events with the aid of teacher advisors and
a lawyer, provided by the Saginaw County Bar Association. There are mock
trials in the morning and another session in the afternoon. The students are provided a complimentary lunch before
or after the Mock Trial
sessions begins. More than 145 students and their teachers participate each
year.
With the twelve
participating schools in Saginaw County, schools are paired up to debate
over the assigned case. One school acts are the prosecutors and the other
school acts as the defendant. The students participating in Law Day mirror
as lawyers, witnesses, and jurors. All students in Law Day act as jurors for
a trial not associated from their school. The experienced members as lawyers
and witnesses, watch a video prior to the competition. From the video, the
information of the case is given and the members make a defense for their
client. |
